EL CUENTISTA! (the storyteller!)
The innovative winery launches the first blanc de noirs made from the red tempranillo variety.
Storytellers create, invent, go beyond reality, and amaze with their art. That is exactly what El Cuentista is.
Bodegas PRADOREY presents El Cuentista 2013, the first white wine made from tempranillo grapes from its Ribera del Duero estate. This innovation is part of the winery’s ongoing commitment to standing out with the highest quality.
Since its founding, Bodegas PRADOREY has explored the most original winemaking methods to craft truly unique wines. The results have always been innovative while upholding the highest quality standards, respecting the traditional winemaking process and the essence of great wines. Proof of this was the first Roble (1997 vintage) or the Blush Rosé (tempranillo, 2012 vintage).
But the vision goes beyond that—opening new horizons in the industry and creating unique, exclusive products like El Cuentista 2013. Personality, distinction, and even a touch of madness. Until now, PRADOREY has been committed to making high-quality, versatile wines in Ribera del Duero and Rueda. Now, the winery pioneers the use of tempranillo to craft a one-of-a-kind white wine through fermentation of this red grape variety’s must.
The harvest is carried out manually, with great care and selection in the vineyard, coming from eight estate-owned plots at an average altitude of 813 meters in the heart of Ribera del Duero. The secret to maintaining its identity lies in aging on Verdejo lees and nine months of maturation in American oak barrels. This process provides a solid structure, making this wine ideal for pairing with white meats, traditional local roasts such as suckling lamb, or fish like salmon—even desserts.

Each of us tells stories in our own way,
weaving reality and fiction together,
sometimes straying from the familiar,
and stepping into fantasy,
like in a fairytale.
Unlike traditional white wines, which are made from light-skinned grape varieties, white wine from red tempranillo grapes is an innovative option that surprises with its complexity and freshness. The winemaking process involves gently pressing the grapes without allowing the must to take on color from the skins, resulting in a golden-hued wine with fruity aromas and floral notes. This technique creates a wine with the structure and personality of a red but the lightness and acidity of a white.
This type of wine is an excellent choice for pairing with light dishes such as seafood, fresh salads, or soft cheeses, as its balance of acidity and body enhances flavors without overpowering them. Additionally, white wine from red tempranillo grapes is becoming increasingly popular among wine lovers seeking new flavor profiles. Its versatility and originality make it a great choice for those looking to expand their palate and enjoy a unique and sophisticated glass.
In short, white wine made from red tempranillo grapes is a surprising option that blends tradition, innovation, and a unique flavor profile in every sip. Its balance of freshness, structure, and complexity makes it an ideal choice for both experienced palates and those eager to explore new nuances in the world of wine. Whether enjoyed on its own as an aperitif or paired with a delicious meal, this wine offers a different and refined experience.
