It is made with the best grapes in Pago Valdelayegua, a vineyard that contributes unique qualities to the wine. At an average height of 815 metres above sea level, it produces grapes of great colour and structure, thanks to a high proportion of clay-limestone soil, the result of the sedimentation of particles that the river Gromejón carried in suspension millions of years ago.
– Pago Valdelayegua single vineyard
– Altitude: 790 – 820 m
– Gentle slopes facing south, near the Rivers Duero and the Gromejón
– Sandy loam and clay-loam soils with limestone outcrops
– 98% Tempranillo and 2% Merlot
– Harvested manually
– Spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts at controlled temperature (28 °C).
– 12 months in French and American oak barrels
– 3 months in Nevers oak vats
– SIGHT: Dark cherry red with intense bluish nuances, deep and bright
– NOSE: High intensity, with dominating ripe red fruit and sweet sensations from barrel ageing. Complex, balsamic and mineral backgropund
– MOUTH: Tasty in the mouth, with rounded tannins and a pleasant freshness on the palate. Tasty finish, with great concentration of fruit and a velvety finish
